We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Volunteer Nurse to provide hands-on patient care, and support clinical operations. This role is essential in delivering quality nursing care, promoting health education, and ensuring the well-being of patients in underserved communities.

Responsibilities:
Medical Care & Emergency Response
- Provide direct patient care, including consultations, medication distribution, and monitoring treatment plans.
- Work at the clinic from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Monday-Friday) with a 1-hour lunch break.
- Be on-call for evening and weekend duties as scheduled and prepared to respond to medical emergencies 24/7.
Nursing Responsibilities
- Assist the clinic doctor/assistant doctor in patient care and procedures.
- Perform nursing procedures such as injections, IV administration, and monitoring vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, etc.).
- Support medical consultations across various specialties, including therapy, gynecology, midwifery, pediatrics, endocrinology, otorhinolaryngology, dermatology, and infectious diseases.
- Assist with minor surgical operations such as draining abscesses, placing and removing stitches, and removing lipomas and ingrown nails.
- Maintain sterility by sterilizing medical instruments and ensuring aseptic conditions.
- Conduct medical tests available at the clinic, including glucose, pregnancy, hemoglobin, syphilis, HIV, Hepatitis A and B tests.
- Perform medical examinations available at the clinic, such as electrocardiography (ECG), Doppler ultrasounds, and spirometry.
- Conduct home visits for patients unable to return to the clinic due to health conditions.
- Triage patients and prioritize care based on their condition.
- Administer first aid when necessary.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, reports, and statistical data to ensure proper patient follow-up and clinic operations.
Community Health Education
- Educate the local community on disease prevention, hygiene, and proper health practices to promote overall well-being.
Clinic & Daily Operations Support
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized clinic, shared spaces, and living areas.
- Participate in meal preparation, grocery shopping, and acquiring essential household and medical supplies.
General Expectations
- Adhere strictly to all program rules and safety protocols.
- Connecting with the community, maintaining the special link between the people and the clinic.
- Be adaptable and willing to contribute beyond medical duties when needed.

Skills & requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age;
- Education: secondary level medical degree in nursing;
- Language Skills: Spanish B1 level or higher upon arrival (we offer support to help you improve your Spanish before your trip!).
- Communication: Open to speaking Spanish, even within the team, to enhance collaboration and integration.
- Fundraising Participation: Willing to support the project through fundraising efforts.
- Adventure & Adaptability: Comfortable living and working in a remote rural clinic with limited internet access, away from large cities, alongside a diverse, international team.
